As part of the monitoring of the National Inclusive Dialogue, the DECIDE Platform team met this Tuesday with representatives from FAMOD (Forum of Mozambican Associations of People with Disabilities) and AJUDEMOS.
During the meeting, which took place at the Sports Pavilion, the organizations present acknowledged being aware of the ongoing dialogue process. However, they stressed that people with disabilities feel excluded, as they lack effective representation. The representatives emphasized that true inclusion tends to be a priority only during election periods, which limits their full and consistent participation in public life.
To overcome this situation, participants called for a more transparent and truly inclusive dialogue that actively involves civil society. Furthermore, they advocated for the creation of community schools adapted for children with disabilities and the official recognition of FAMOD as an essential bridge between the State and people with disabilities.
The meeting served to reinforce a central message: "People living with disabilities also have dreams."
