Fake taxi driver arrested for raping and assaulting women in Maputo City

An individual was arrested by the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM), accused of posing as a taxi driver for the purpose of luring, sexually abusing, and assaulting women in Maputo City. The most recent incident occurred in the Malanga neighborhood, where a victim was taken to a secluded location, raped, and robbed of her belongings. After the report, authorities located and detained the suspect, who is now being held in Maputo Central Prison.

 According to the PRM, the man acted alone, exploiting the trust placed in digital transportation services. There are indications that the suspect may be linked to other similar crimes. Authorities urge the public to adopt safety measures, such as verifying the driver's details and sharing the route with family or friends.
