ECA celebrates World Photography Day

The celebrations of World Photography Day, on August 19th, attract students and the general public, providing an opportunity to remember, reconstruct, and revalue the historical experiences of an independent Mozambique. A photography exhibition organized by the Center for Documentation and Photographic Training (CDFF), in partnership with the School of Communication and Arts (ECA), has been open to the public since August 18th of this year. To explore the past, present, and future, the discussion on photography in the digital age served as an introduction, with welcomes from the Rector, Professor Manuel Guilherme Júnior, and the Director of ECA, Professor Ezra Chambal Nhampoca, of the largest and oldest higher education institution, and from the Director, Doctor Cecília Gonçalves, of the Center for Documentation and Photographic Training and Director of GABINFO, Doctor Emília Moiane.

The debate resulted from roundtable discussions with veteran photojournalists and young digital creators, such as Inácio Pereira and Naita Ussene, Júlio Manjate, Prof. Ori Pota, and Ivete Mafundza, moderated by Feling Capela. The topics covered included copyright management, archive preservation, and how to make a photography career sustainable. The exhibition will be on display until August 24, 2025.
