Cyclone JUDE Leaves 17,000 Children Without Access to Education

Cyclone JUDE caused serious damage, leaving more than 17,000 children without access to school, according to UNICEF. This number is expected to increase as flooding persists. In addition to disrupting education, flooding increases the risk of waterborne diseases such as cholera and diarrhea, threatening children’s health.

Organizations such as UNICEF are mobilizing efforts to ensure that children can return to learning and to implement health measures to prevent outbreaks. The situation continues to be monitored, with the international community called upon to support affected families.
