Commitment to energy sustainability

Banco Comercial e de Investimentos (BCI) was present at the 4th edition of the Business Conference on Renewable Energies – RENMOZ 2025, held on 23 and 24 April, under the motto "Energy Transition in Mozambique".

At the event, which brought together hundreds of in-person participants and over 2,000 in virtual format, BCI was part of the second panel, dedicated to the theme "Financing the Energy Transition". In this high-level session, financial support mechanisms were discussed, such as carbon markets, international funds, cooperation programs and local banking instruments, which are essential to enable investments in the private sector. The energy transition was highlighted as a structural transformation of the national development model, requiring innovation, inclusion and sustainability.

By participating in this important forum, BCI reinforces its position as one of the main promoters of renewable energy in Mozambique, by providing specific lines of financing that are accessible and have a high economic and social impact. By focusing on financial innovation and the creation of sustainable solutions, BCI promotes access to clean, quality energy by supporting projects that promote the growth of entrepreneurs, communities and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), particularly in regions with limited access to the electricity grid.

Aware that the energy transition requires a joint effort from all relevant stakeholders, BCI has taken on a key role as a pioneer in mobilizing and negotiating funds with bilateral and multilateral institutions, enabling the development of financial products adapted to market needs. By expanding financing for renewable energy projects and promoting inclusive access to modern energy solutions, the Bank reaffirms its commitment to continue being a strategic partner in building a fairer, more inclusive and resilient energy future for Mozambique.
