According to a source at the scene, the business was considered vital to the community, being responsible for sustaining the economic life of the entire neighborhood.
The National Salvation Service PuThe Public Security Service (SENSAP) was dispatched to the scene, but upon arrival, the flames had almost completely consumed the establishment. Inside, essential goods were being sold, including botanical gas, which contributed to the extremely rapid spread of the fire. The incident occurred beneath medium and high-voltage power lines belonging to Electricidade de Moçambique, which posed an additional risk during the event.
According to people present at the scene, the origin of the fire is closely related to a short circuit.
Residents of the neighborhood deeply regret the situation, since the establishment offered good prices and was seen as a refuge during a period of economic and financial crisis affecting the country.
