Coal Dealers Contest Price Increases at Matola Shipyards

In the Intaka neighborhood of Matola Municipality, charcoal dealers are outraged by the sudden increase in the price per bag at the construction sites, which went from 1,200 to 1,400 meticais. The increase is negatively affecting the traders' profit margins, who claim they were not informed in advance of the price change. Many point the finger at suppliers, accusing them of speculation and a lack of transparency.

 Although the government recently relaxed the licensing requirements for coal sales, facilitating market supply, dealers believe the price increase is unjustified. They call for clear dialogue between all parties involved and for government intervention to stabilize the market. Meanwhile, retail outlets remain virtually empty, leaving many families struggling to access this essential commodity.
