The exhibition “Caring for the Earth – Let’s Save the Planet” brings together artistic works by students from the Pequenos Sábios School and can be visited until October 10th at the BCI Auditorium in Maputo.
Creativity, art and environmental awareness were highlighted on Tuesday (6), at the BCI Auditorium, in Maputo, during the opening of the exhibition “Caring for the Earth – Let’s Save the Planet”. The initiative is from the Pequenos Sábios School and brings together artistic works produced by its students, with the purpose of raising awareness for the preservation of the environment and for building a more sustainable future.
The exhibition, open to the public and free of charge, can be visited until October 10th. The works presented reflect the children's knowledge, imagination, and sensitivity to environmental challenges, with particular emphasis on the transformation of recyclable materials into works of art.
The exhibition is the culmination of an educational project developed throughout the year, which involved various practical environmental awareness activities, including planting trees, cleaning the Costa do Sol beach, and visits to the Environmental Interpretation Center, where students deepened their knowledge about water conservation, responsible energy use, and recycling.
At the opening ceremony, the Director of the Pequenos Sábios School, Fátima Mamade, highlighted the importance of transforming learning into concrete actions, emphasizing that the institution's mission goes beyond the transmission of knowledge, seeking to form conscious citizens committed to preserving the planet.
“The works of art that we are inaugurating today represent the culmination of all this work. Each stroke, each color, and each recycled material transformed into art is a silent but powerful manifesto from our great little sages, who have learned to love and protect our Earth,” he stated.
In turn, the Coordinator of the BCI Media Libraries, Telma Jorge, reaffirmed the Bank's commitment to promoting Education, Literature, Arts, Culture and the Environment, highlighting the role of these areas in creating opportunities and sustainable development.
