Chapo swears in new members of the Council of State and calls for peace

President Daniel Chapo swore in the 21 new members of the Council of State this Monday, including former heads of state, parliamentary leaders, civil society figures, and opposition representatives, such as Venâncio Mondlane, the second-most-voted candidate in the 2024 elections. The group's ideological diversity was highlighted as a sign of democratic openness.

At the ceremony, Chapo called on the advisors to actively contribute to the promotion of peace and stability in Mozambique, stressing that society has high expectations regarding the work of this advisory body during the five-year period 2025-2029.
