To meet the growing flow of passengers and goods, the Mozambique Ports and Railways Company (CFM) launched its second special passenger train to Magude on Thursday, January 29, 2026, maintaining affordable fares and a 50% discount on cargo transport.
The Board of Directors of the Mozambican Ports and Railways Company (CFM) has decided to reinforce rail transport services to Magude by operating two special trains – one for passengers and the other for freight. This measure aims to respond to the significant increase in demand recorded on that route.
In this regard, the second passenger train departed today, January 29th, from Maputo Central Station at 8:00 AM, with an expected arrival in Magude at 1:00 PM. The return trip is scheduled for 4:00 PM, with the return to Maputo expected at 8:00 PM.
On the other hand, the freight train will depart from Maputo on January 30th, also at 8:00 AM, and is expected to arrive in Magude around 1:00 PM. This complementary service aims to facilitate the flow of goods and boost the local economy.
In terms of fares, CFM maintains affordable prices: passenger tickets continue to cost fifty meticais (50.00 MT), while freight transport benefits from a 50% discount on the normal cost.
This initiative reinforces CFM's commitment to improving mobility and connectivity between Maputo and Magude, ensuring regular and affordable transport options for the population and the commercial sector.
