Less than 48 hours after the inauguration of PODEMOS depu- ties in the X Legislature, an event that occurred on Monday, January 13, opposing the appeals of party members and sympathizers and supporters of Venâncio Mondlane,a non-governmental organization called the Center for Democracy and Human Rights (CDD) reported a complaint against the President of the Optimist Party for the Development of Mozambique (PODEMOS) accused of having received 219 million meticais to sell the replacement of electoral truth. The complaint was filed in Tuesday (14),to the Central Anti-Corruption Office (GCCC)In the City of Maputo, the complaint against Albino Forquilha comes at a time when Forquilha had addressed the media to clarify, among other matters, claiming that he had not received any bribe to encourage the party’s deputies to take office in the Assembly of the Republic. Second Adriano Nuvunga, director of the CDD, a social activist, submitted the document to trigger an investigation that would also lead to the recovery of the money. “We received information indicating that the President of PODEMOS received an amount of 219 million meticais to sell the electoral justice system,” said Adriano Nuvunga, adding that the document submitted is to trigger an investigation that will also lead to the recovery of the money. “This is public money. As you know, the people involved in this operation are from the Frelimo party,” adding that the people who provided information to the CDD “say they are close to the matter.” PODEMOS, considered the largest opposition party replacing Renamo after the October 9th election, through its spokesperson, Duclésio Chico, repudiates the accusations made, stating that they have no basis, and without extending the conversation, said that the party did not receive any document about the accusation, stating that,“We demand that CDD and Professor Nuvunga present us with evidence.
This accusation is serious and undermines the good name of the party and our president,” Chico told the press, adding that Nuvunga is at the service of “strange forces” that intend to sow discord within the party and among Mozambicans. Not only did he warn that “at this moment he could not say much about the case, but the party will soon call a press conference for the necessary clarification”.
