Cape Verde removes politicians from the boards of directors of Radio and Television

The Cape Verdean government has announced its intention to remove political figures from the boards of directors of public radio and television stations. The announcement was made by the Minister of Justice, Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Parliamentary Affairs and Social Communication, Clóvis Silva, and reported by RFI.

According to the government official, the measure involves amending the statutes governing both Cape Verdean media outlets, with the aim of ensuring greater independence and impartiality in the management of public media companies.

The proposal arises in a context of growing debate about the separation between political power and state media outlets, with the Executive branch arguing for the need to strengthen the credibility and professionalism of the sector.
