Book on Industrial Property launched at BCI

The book "Mozambique's Industrial Property Code – Annotated," authored by academic Salomão Viagem and sponsored by BCI, was launched at the BCI Auditorium in Maputo.

The publication addresses, in a didactic way, essential issues for understanding the contours of technological evolution and the mutation of Law, its impact in Mozambique, as well as the factors that influence its implementation in the country.

On that occasion, the representative of BCI, Duarte Dlhalane, Central Director of Legal Services, highlighted the importance of the project in the context of national development, stating: “BCI deeply believes that the future of Mozambique is built on three ingredients: people who create, institutions that protect, and capital that trusts. Projects like this serve all three pillars: they inspire those who create, strengthen the institutions that protect, and give capital the reasons it needs to trust Mozambique.”

In turn, the author expressed his deep gratitude to BCI for their contribution to the production of the work, as well as to the Venerable President of the Constitutional Council, responsible for the preface, and to all those who participated in the realization of the book.

The preface highlights the central role of industrial property in economic development and the promotion of innovation, emphasizing that it "currently plays a highly relevant role in economic growth, job creation, and the development of the innovation system, gaining increasing importance in the value of companies, both technological and commercial." The text further reinforces that the protection ensured by this system is crucial to guarantee the economic compensation for investments made in research and development of new products and processes.

The work is also recognized for its practical usefulness, facilitating the understanding and application of the Industrial Property Code, highlighting the clarity, depth, and comprehensiveness of the legal annotations presented by the author.

With this launch, BCI reaffirms its commitment to promoting books, knowledge, and education, and contributes to strengthening the industrial property and innovation system in Mozambique.
