BCI reinforces support for female entrepreneurship in Beira

The Commercial and Investment Bank (BCI) reaffirmed its commitment to the economic empowerment of Mozambican women by participating in the third edition of SÓCIAS – Women in Business Connect, recently held in the city of Beira. The event brought together women entrepreneurs and businesswomen from different sectors of activity, in an environment marked by the sharing of knowledge, inspiring stories of overcoming challenges, appreciation of female talent, and identification of new business opportunities.

Promoted by Esperança Matsimbe, founder of the SÓCIAS project and women's rights activist, the initiative provided a space for empowerment, sharing experiences and strengthening collaborative networks, encouraging participants to transform ideas and small economic activities into structured, sustainable businesses with growth prospects.

A partner of the initiative since its first edition, BCI has once again joined the project, continuing a collaboration that reflects its commitment to financial inclusion and the enhancement of women's entrepreneurial potential.

Representing BCI, the Regional Commercial Director, Tanya Barbosa, spoke at the opening session, highlighting the crucial role of women in boosting the economy and the importance of creating conditions so that more female entrepreneurs have access to knowledge, financial solutions, and growth opportunities.

On that occasion, she emphasized that supporting female entrepreneurship is a strategic choice for BCI, based on the conviction that Mozambique's economic progress necessarily depends on the increasingly active participation of women. This vision takes on particular significance in the year that the Bank celebrates 30 years of activity, during which it has prioritized close relationships with clients and support for the country's development.

Tanya Barbosa also participated in one of the panel discussions, dedicated to financial literacy, in which she addressed the importance of efficient business management, the discipline of saving, financial planning, and access to banking services tailored to the needs of female entrepreneurs.

The event also featured prominent figures, providing a space for interaction between women entrepreneurs, institutional leaders, and representatives from different sectors of society, in an environment of learning, inspiration, and networking.

Participation in this initiative reaffirms BCI's position as a partner of women who undertake, innovate and contribute to the economic and social transformation of Mozambique, reinforcing its commitment to more inclusive and sustainable development.
