BCI recently delivered a collection of books to the São Tomás University of Mozambique (USTM) - Xai-Xai Extension, in an initiative that falls within the celebrations of its 30th anniversary and its Social Responsibility policy, aiming to promote access to knowledge, strengthen the institution's bibliographic collection and contribute to supporting teaching, research and academic training.
More than just offering bibliographic works, the initiative represents an investment in the future of young students, teachers, and researchers, reinforcing the tools available for learning, scientific research, and the construction of new knowledge.
The collection donated by BCI includes works from different areas of knowledge, which will now become part of the institution's collection, contributing to expanding sources of information and supporting the academic community in its training and discovery process.
The delivery was formalized by the BCI representative, Firmino Custódio Chanjale, assigned to the Chibuto branch (64), who highlighted the importance of the partnership between the Bank and higher education institutions, emphasizing that BCI's role goes beyond its financial activity. “For BCI, this relationship with universities goes far beyond numbers and financial transactions. It is a partnership based on trust and the conviction that Mozambique's development necessarily involves knowledge and the empowerment of people. By delivering these books, we are contributing to ensuring that students, teachers, and researchers have more tools to learn, create, and transform ideas into solutions for the country,” he stated.
Firmino Chanjale added that each book represents an opportunity for growth and an open door to new horizons. “These works were chosen with the needs of those who study, teach, and research in mind. They are tools that can accompany different stages of academic life, support research, clarify doubts, and spark new ideas,” he said.
The BCI representative further emphasized that the true value of knowledge lies in its ability to generate impact: “We believe that knowledge is not measured solely by the quantity of books available, but by the impact they can create in people's lives. We hope that these works will inspire the academic community of the University of São Tomás de Moçambique to continue seeking answers, innovating, and going further and further.”
Representing USTM - Xai-Xai Extension, the institution's Director, Anselmo Orlando Pinto, thanked BCI for the gesture, highlighting the importance of the contribution to strengthening resources supporting teaching and research.
With this initiative, BCI reaffirms its commitment to promoting education, reading, and the development of human capital, believing that each book made available is a seed of knowledge capable of generating new opportunities and contributing to building a more prepared, inclusive, and sustainable Mozambique.
