BCI invests in supporting a young medical student

The dream of becoming a doctor and returning to care for her community is about to become a reality for Elizabete Chombe, a young student from Inhambane province. Thanks to integrated support from the Commercial and Investment Bank (BCI), in partnership with the Dumissani television program, Elizabete will have all the conditions to attend the General Medicine course and build a promising future.

The initiative, presented by journalist Laura Andrade, goes beyond a simple scholarship. To ensure that Elizabete's dedication is exclusively to her studies, BCI has guaranteed the full funding of school materials and essential clinical equipment for her practical training, such as a stethoscope, sphygmomanometer, diagnostic flashlight, masks, and caps.

In addition to the technical equipment, the student received a laptop, a fundamental tool for conducting research and academic work, which reinforces her technical and scientific preparation from her first year.

But the support isn't limited to the academic sphere. BCI demonstrates a holistic view of student support by also guaranteeing a monthly allowance for food and other basic needs. In this way, the young woman will have stable living conditions, allowing her to maintain focus, emotional balance, and high academic performance.

According to the Chairman of the Executive Committee of BCI, Francisco Costa, this gesture represents the convergence of two fundamental areas for the country's development. “BCI has always supported Education and Health in Mozambique. Supporting a student, a future doctor, is, at the same time, reinforcing our commitment to these two structuring areas and investing in the country's future,” he stated.

The impact of this initiative, however, promises to be multiplied. Elizabete Chombe has clearly expressed her intention to return to her hometown after graduation to contribute directly to improving local healthcare. In this way, more than just supporting a student, BCI is contributing to strengthening the national health sector and creating concrete opportunities for social advancement.

This project is also an example of the power of partnerships. The support results from the collaboration between BCI, the Dumissani program (a television project for social awareness) and ISCTEM, demonstrating how the union of efforts can generate a sustainable and transformative social impact.

With this support, BCI reaffirms its commitment to the social and human development of Mozambique, focusing on education as the foundation for a more inclusive future. By recognizing the merit of young people like Elizabete Chombe, the Bank believes that investing in their dreams is, above all, investing in the future of the country.
