
A Business Network session was recently held in the city of Tete. This is an initiative of Banco Comercial e de Investimentos (BCI) that brought together BCI Empresas clients from Tete province and the institution’s staff. The meeting was a space for sharing and joint reflection on the trends of the current national economic situation and future economic projections.
On the occasion, the Chairman of the Executive Committee (PCE) of BCI, Francisco Costa, gave a keynote speech focusing on the challenges and opportunities of the current macroeconomic environment. The director highlighted the importance of banking in boosting the economy, underlining the role of BCI as a partner committed to Mozambique's economic growth, through the promotion of sustainable business practices.
When addressing the national economic situation, Francisco Costa highlighted the strategic potential of the extractive sector as one of the main levers of development. He also stressed that sustainability has become an essential pillar of national growth, pointing to the need for a long-term vision. In this sense, he defended the adoption of ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) practices as a key factor for differentiation and competitiveness in the market.
Francisco Costa also stressed that companies must increasingly adapt to sustainable practices, given that the near future will require this transformation. He encouraged companies to prepare for competitive participation as qualified service providers in mega-projects.
In closing, the BCI CEO highlighted that Mozambique is going through a period of great opportunities, reaffirming the institution's commitment and dedication to inclusive and sustainable development.
