BCI celebrates Children's Day with social action in Polana Caniço

On Monday, June 1st, BCI carried out a social responsibility action at the Pediatric Ward of the Polana Caniço General Hospital, marking International Children's Day and reaffirming its commitment to promoting children's health and well-being.

The initiative consisted of providing a refrigerator, a microwave, and various snack kits for the children hospitalized in that health unit, contributing to the improvement of care conditions and supporting the unit's operation.

The event coincided with the reopening of the Pediatric Ward, a ceremony presided over by the Director of Health Services for the City of Maputo, Paloma Maripiha, and witnessed by the Hospital's management, healthcare professionals, staff, and hospitalized children.

On that occasion, the head of the city's health services expressed satisfaction with the completion of the new ward, considering it a significant milestone in improving pediatric care conditions. She thanked the partners for their support and acknowledged the commitment of the healthcare professionals at the Polana Caniço General Hospital. She also emphasized that International Children's Day is an opportunity to reflect on children's rights and the collective responsibility for their protection and promotion, involving families, communities, public institutions, and social partners.

In turn, the Director of the Polana Caniço General Hospital, Marino Maringue, stated that the date represents a moment of celebration and renewal of the commitment to the future of children. He highlighted the role of everyone in creating conditions for healthy and safe growth with access to education, love, and humane healthcare.

BCI's Director of Social Responsibility, Virgínia Albasini, highlighted the close relationship built with the Hospital over the years, recalling previous contributions from the Bank, namely the donation of hygiene materials and furniture. She emphasized that these actions reflect a partnership based on trust, solidarity, and commitment to improving patient care conditions.

He added that BCI welcomes the strengthening of this relationship, and reaffirmed the Bank's willingness to continue supporting initiatives with social impact: "every gesture of support represents an opportunity to bring hope, comfort and dignity to those who need it most," he said.

At the same ceremony, BCI received a Certificate of Recognition, which highlighted that its contribution "was fundamental to the success of this initiative, demonstrating a high level of commitment to children's health."

This action is part of BCI's commitment to social responsibility, which prioritizes initiatives in areas such as health, education, culture, community development, sustainability, and social inclusion, contributing to the construction of a more just and supportive society.
