Alert: Mpox one case detected in Matola

Mpox is a zoonotic viral disease caused by a virus of the Orthopoxvirus genus, transmitted through contact with infected animals or people. The most common symptoms are fever, muscle aches, headache, swollen lymph nodes, and a rash, usually lasting two to four weeks.

Although most cases are mild and resolve spontaneously, vulnerable groups such as children, pregnant women, and the immunocompromised may experience more serious complications. The World Health Organization has designated the disease "Mpox" since November 2022, highlighting the importance of surveillance and prevention.
