Through a press release, the Maputo Municipal Council (CMM) informed that repairs to the cold storage chambers at the morgue attached to the Maputo Central Hospital (HCM) have been completed, following a serious malfunction that had compromised the normal functioning of the body preservation system at that unit.
The recorded malfunction affected a significant part of the refrigeration system, a situation that raised concerns about the service's response capacity, considering the importance of the morgue for supporting health units and families who use that space for the temporary preservation of the bodies of their loved ones.
According to the municipality, urgent technical interventions were carried out to restore normal operating conditions to the cold storage chambers. The work included repairing essential components of the refrigeration system, as well as checking and maintaining other equipment associated with the operation of the infrastructure.
With the completion of the renovations, the cold storage chambers are once again operational, ensuring the restoration of adequate conditions for the preservation of bodies, in accordance with the sanitary standards required for this type of service. Currently, the morgue attached to Maputo Central Hospital has 42 fully operational refrigerated drawers, ensuring the necessary capacity to meet the demand for services provided at that unit.
The Maputo Municipal Council assures that it will continue to monitor the operation of the infrastructure under its management, reinforcing preventive maintenance actions, in order to avoid new breakdowns and guarantee the provision of public services with greater quality and dignity to the population.
