Absa Bank Mozambique officially launched "Poupinhas," an innovative financial literacy project designed to empower children aged 6 to 12 in public schools through educational content adapted to the Mozambican reality.
With a focus on savings, responsibility, planning, and conscious decision-making, "Poupinhas" is a transformative initiative that lays the foundations for a more solid financial future from an early age, promoting the country's sustainable development.
Through comics, games, recreational activities, and interactive educational materials, the project offers a fun and accessible approach that respects Mozambique's cultural diversity and promotes inclusive learning, especially in communities with limited access to educational resources.
Hanifa Hassangy, Human Capital Director at Absa Bank Mozambique, highlights:"We believe that financial education should start early. By providing children with basic financial knowledge, we are empowering them to make informed choices in the future. 'Poupinhas' is much more than an educational program—it is a platform for social inclusion, where every child, regardless of their background, has access to tools to build a more responsible and sustainable future."
The launch of "Poupinhas" reinforces Absa's commitment to Mozambique's economic and social development, positioning education as a true driver of inclusion, equity, and transformation. Designed with a long-term vision, the project calls for the collaboration of institutional and social partners to ensure its impact and sustainability.
Absa will initially invest in the production of 2,000 copies, which will be distributed free of charge to public schools across the country – with special attention to the most remote areas.
The Bank also invites schools, educators, educational institutions, foundations and civil society organizations to join the initiative, integrating "Poupinhas" into their teaching practices and contributing to the emergence of a new generation of more aware, informed and financially prepared citizens.
With "Poupinhas," Absa Mozambique transforms life stories, creating opportunities for every child, wherever they are, to write a prosperous, responsible, and conscious future.
