From now on, using an ATM in Mozambique starts with a simple gesture: tapping your card. Absa Bank Mozambique has introduced contactless technology to ATMs in the national market, making banking transactions faster, more convenient, simpler and safer, without the need to insert the card into the machine.
For the first time in the country, a technology already familiar from everyday payments is arriving at ATMs. This innovation provides customers with a more intuitive experience, aligned with the evolution of banking services in Mozambique.
The process is simple: the customer holds their contactless card close to the ATM reader, enters their PIN to complete the transaction with the usual security. During the transaction, the card remains in the customer's possession at all times.
By eliminating the need to physically insert the card, this solution makes ATM use more seamless, reduces the risk of fraud and card retention in the machine, since the card is no longer physically inserted to initiate the transaction.
This technology is available in all Absa ATMs, enabling a unique, differentiated, and safer experience, anytime and anywhere the customer is.
For Denise Cruz, Director of Personal and Private Banking at Absa Bank Mozambique,This innovation translates into a concrete improvement in the customer experience: “Technology should make what is part of our daily lives simpler and safer. With Contactless ATMs, our customers can start their transactions with a simple touch, with greater speed, convenience and control. The card always remains in their hands, reducing the risk of fraud and retention in the machines. And this functionality is available at no additional cost.”
The arrival of Contactless technology at ATMs reflects the evolution of payment methods and the growing familiarity of consumers with simpler ways to carry out their banking transactions. By making this experience available for the first time in Mozambique, Absa expands the possibilities for using Contactless technology in the national market and introduces a new way to interact with one of the banking channels most present in people's daily lives.
