A 40-year-old man was stabbed to death in the Intaka neighborhood of Matola

The Intaka neighborhood, in Matola, was the scene of yet another act of extreme violence that left the community in shock. In the early hours of Monday (4), a man of approximately 40 years old was fatally stabbed by individuals not yet identified, in the vicinity of his residence, in block 5.

According to neighbors, the attack occurred silently and suddenly. "It all happened very quickly and without any alarm or calls for help. Only in the morning, around 4 a.m., was the neighborhood leader alerted by residents who found the body lying on the ground," said one resident. Upon arriving at the scene, the community leader found the victim lying on the ground, suffering from multiple stab wounds, presumably caused by a bladed weapon.

In addition to the man who lost his life, a second victim was reportedly injured in the same incident and is hospitalized in serious condition. Immediately after the alert, the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) was activated, took control of the situation, and has already begun investigations to identify the perpetrators of the crime and determine their motives.

According to testimonies gathered in the neighborhood, the deceased was widely recognized as a peaceful and respected man, with no history of conflict. "It's a great loss for the community. He was a hardworking man who didn't bother anyone," stated the neighborhood leader, visibly distraught. In light of the tragedy, residents are now demanding an urgent increase in security, denouncing the rise in crime and appealing for more effective action from the authorities.

In response, the PRM (Mozambique Police) assured that it is working to clarify the case as quickly as possible and appeals to anyone with relevant information to cooperate with the investigations.
