The training sessions of the U-20 National Football Team that will be part of the COSAFA Tournament in South Africa from 3 to 13 December will start on 29 October.
To start the work, 33 athletes from eight clubs in the city, Maputo and Beira province were pre-selected, before joining Mozambican players who act outside the country.
From abroad, more specifically in Portugal, the Mozambican coach Dário Monteiro called two players: international players Pablo Bechardas, who plays in the junior team of Nacional da Madeira and Gianluca Lorenzoni, young athlete from Varzim SC.
For the case of Pablo Bechardas he was available to help the “Mambinhas” due to a rupture in the posterior thigh of his left leg, but he is currently in the recovery phase.
“Against my will, with a mixture of sadness and conscious conformity, I had to make a decision, together with the medical team of my Club who are accompanying me daily in the recovery process. The club and I agreed that the conditions were not met for me to respond positively to my call to the National Team “said Pablo
Finally, the Mozambican player left a message of motivation to the working group in the hope that they represent the country with dignity and a patriotic sense, and that they can obtain positive results in the competition scheduled for South Africa.
In turn, Gianluca Antonio Remo Lorenzoni, born on February 22, 2001, at just 19 years old, will debut for the first time in the call for “Mambinhas” in the Under-20 category.
Gianluca was born and raised in Maputo, his mother is Mozambican, his Italian father, lived in France and will fulfill the dream of playing for the national team of Mozambique.
“I have trained for the U17 national team but have not yet played in an official match. I hope to make my call to the national team count, any player has the dream of giving blood for his country and I do not break the rule”
